Using this tool
Generate a random ULA prefix for private-network planning.
Actions: Generate ULA
Example
The 40-bit global ID changes randomly; the interface ID is reproducible from this synthetic MAC. X is a placeholder.
Example action and settings
Action: Generate ULA Subnet ID (hexadecimal): 0001 Optional MAC address: 02:00:00:12:34:56
Input / action
Result / expected behavior
fdXX:XXXX:XXXX::/48; subnet fdXX:XXXX:XXXX:0001::/64; interface ID 0000:00ff:fe12:3456 (X varies).
Available options: Subnet ID (hexadecimal) · Optional MAC address
Scope and limitations
- The subnet ID is 1–4 hex digits; fd00::/8 is not for public Internet routing.
Common mistakes
- Generating a prefix does not configure an interface or guarantee no collision; EUI-64 exposes MAC-derived structure.
