Using this tool
Generate random MAC candidates for test configuration.
Actions: Generate MAC
Example
The local bit overrides the first byte, changing 00 to 02. The final three bytes vary; XX/YY are placeholders.
Example action and settings
Action: Generate MAC Count: 2 Optional prefix (1–5 bytes): 00:11:22 Locally administered: On Multicast: Off Format: Colon-separated Lowercase: Off
Input / action
Result / expected behavior
02:11:22:XX:XX:XX 02:11:22:YY:YY:YY (random bytes; placeholders are not literal output).
Available options: Count · Optional prefix (1–5 bytes) · Locally administered · Multicast · Lowercase · Format
Scope and limitations
- Each batch contains 1–1000 addresses; prefixes contain 1–5 complete bytes.
- No local-network collision detection is performed.
Common mistakes
- Do not assume the prefix is preserved exactly: checkboxes override its local and multicast bits.
